Milan, July 27, 2009

Italian Flag Italian version

In one year of activity, the Nucleo per la semplificazione (Simplification Unit) set up by the Regulatory Authority for Electricity and Gas, identified 740 resolutions which are no longer effective.
As of today, the resolutions issued from 1999 through 2007 have been examined, and the analysis of the remaining periods will be completed by the end of the year. In fact, the Unit will continue its activity of uncovering obsolete measures and will draft new simplification proposals and initiatives.

The simplification activity is envisaged by the Authority's 2009-2011 Strategic Plan, with the aim of offering operators and those interested a more and more rational, transparent, and certain frame of reference, also in line with the Community and national policies on regulation simplification. The search and analysis work also intends to facilitate the research and consultation activity, through the Authority's website.

A first group of 281 no-longer-effective resolutions, referring to measures adopted in the years 2005, 2006, and 2007, had been identified last year (resolution GOP 36/08). A second search ended in April 2009, with the identification of another 220 regulatory measures adopted in the years 2002, 2003, and 2004 and which were no longer effective (resolution GOP 16/09). The third search made it possible to identify another 239 no-longer-effective resolutions (resolution GOP 33/09, available on the Authority's website www.autorita.energia.it.) Thus, as of today, a total of 740 no-longer-effective resolutions have already been identified.
