The Italian Regulator and ERE, its Albanian counterpart, signed a new "bilateral agreement", which extends to the gas sector the cooperation begun in 2007 for the electricity sector . This understanding between the two Regulators will be developed according to the intergovernmental agreements between Italy and Albania, with the aim to facilitate sector initiatives, including those for new energy interconnections (electricity and gas) between the two sides of the Adriatic Sea.
The cooperation between the two Regulators will mainly deal with issues such as: tariff methods, network codes for transport and storage activities, market regulations, consumers protection, quality of services and, in more general terms, the exchange of informations on regulation and control initiatives of common interest.

"International collaboration and cooperation among Regulators are becoming increasingly important," said President Alessandro Ortis, "in order to create more stable and harmonised regulatory frameworks capable of promoting infrastructure investments, positive cross-border trade and integrations of the energy markets."

The agreement (Resolution GOP 13/09) is published on the website www.autorita.energia.it
