Mr. Massimo Ricci, Engineer, is the new head of the Markets Department of the Regulatory Authority for Electricity and Gas of Italy.Born in Milan, holder of a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pavia and a Research Doctorate in Electrotechnical Engineering from the University of Pisa, he has held positions of growing responsibility in his six years with the Authority, until taking over, in November 2006, the responsibility for the "Dispatching, Transport/Transmission and Storage" Unit, as well as for the coordination of the initiatives concerning the electrical market.
He has also carried on consulting activities in the electricity and gas sectors, and was previously in charge of electricity and gas trading activities in the private sector.
He has worked with the CESI (Italian Electrical Engineering Research Centre) in the creation of simulation models for the planning and operation of electrical systems, and in the conducting of studies and analyses of electrical systems at both the national and international level. He is also the author of various publications on energy-related topics.
